Bramble Bean Wool Diaper Covers:
All our wool diaper covers are made from 100% reclaimed wool sweaters. Reclaimed wool is an eco- friendly textile in that we are giving new life to a garment that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill. Our Soakers, Shorties, Longies and Skorties are all handmade making each one as unique as the child wearing it.
Wool itself is naturally anti-bacterial, breathable, and water absorbant, able to absorb 30% of it's own weight before it even feels damp. It is also temperature regulating, keeping your little one warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Once lanolized it is water repellent, making it perfect for cloth diapering and other accessories. Their water repellent breathablility makes them an excellent choice for your little ones sensitive skin, reducing, even eliminating diaper rashes. Wool diaper covers need a little bit of extra laundering care but do require washing much less often than other materials. They are essentially self cleaning in that the urine itself reacts with the lanolin to form a soap. If they do get soiled you can do a spot wash with a little olive oil soap or baby wash. Otherwise they need a gentle washing every couple of weeks, sometimes a little longer. Wool is naturally odour resistant so as a general rule, if your cover is still smelly after is has air dried, it's time for a wash.

To wash:
Use tepid water and a wool safe wash containing lanolin. Wash your covers inside out and give gentle agitation as too much can cause further shrinkage. If using a wash with lanolin, let soak for at least 15 minutes. There's no need to rinse. Gently squeeze, but do not wring. Roll in a towl and squeeze firmly or step on to remove excess water, then lay flat or hang to dry. Be sure your covers are not stretching or pulling as they dry or they may lose their shape.
