My name is Cristi Lundman. I am the mother of three little girls and married to a terrific man! We home school, garden, and try to live in an environmentally responsible manner.
I started out cloth diapering my first child eight years ago, using flat cotton diapers which I folded and fastened with pins then covered with "rubber pants." Following the birth of our youngest child in October of 2006, we dicovered a whole new world of cloth diapering. The choices are endless! Because of the miriad of options available, there is usually a cloth diapering system to fit most family's budget and lifestyle. The huge variety can be overwhelming to new parents, though! Huckleberry Baby Shop is my way of trying to bring a large range of cloth diapering products closer to home for parents in the Nanaimo area. I offer Nanaimo's first in home consultations for parents looking to touch and feel cloth diapering products before they make a purchase as well as a novel cloth diapering trial program. Parents get a chance to use a cloth diaper tester kit for two weeks so they can try out a variety of different diapers It is my desire to have parents choose cloth diapers that will truly fit the needs of their baby and entire family.
Baby wearing is another passion of mine. All of my children have been carried extensively. Current research on infant brain development tells us that babies thrive when they are held and touched. "Wearing" or carrying your baby in a soft carrier helps your baby's brain develop, assists in the bonding and secure attachment process, keeps your comforted so that he/she cries less, prevents plagiocephaly or "flat head," allows a mother to have her hands free will keeping her baby close, and feels natural! I stock a variety of different baby carriers and am happy to share my experience to assist in finding an option that works for you!
I have been a nurse for 12.5 years and have extensive experience working with expectant parents, infants, and young families. Supporting parents in making gentle choices for their families and the environment is of utmost importance to me.
